In simple terms, an ally is someone who stands up for the equitable and fair treatment of someone who is different from them.

Anyone can be an ally for a marginalized or vulnerable group; it involves actively listening and learning about others’ experiences, as well as taking action to end discrimination. Allyship hinges on embracing a learning mindset and a willingness to question your assumptions, evolve your thinking, and owning your mistakes.

In this webinar, Christa will explore the relationship between inclusion and belonging, reflecting on dimensions of diversity that have shaped our personal access to opportunity.

Christa will investigate the concepts of power and privilege through a relational lens, identifying concrete steps we can take to interrupt bias and address injustice.

Lastly, she’ll delve into real-life scenarios involving micro-aggressions and discrimination, brainstorming ways that allies can take action.

Key topics covered:

  • Define key terminology related to allyship
  • Make a connection between belonging, engagement, and productivity
  • Articulate what it means to act as an ally to a marginalized group
  • Explain how bystander behavior contributes to bias and exclusion
  • Identify concrete actions that allies can take in addressing bias and discrimination
  • Brainstorm inclusive actions an ally could take in real-life scenarios

In an inclusive work culture, all employees feel visible and valued. The sense of belonging that underpins each individual’s daily experience enables a rich exchange of diverse perspectives and ideas.

Psychological safety fosters an environment where traditional assumptions are questioned, leading to the development of robust and innovative solutions. Creating this kind of culture is a journey, and it doesn’t happen overnight.

“It takes a village” to create a culture of inclusion, with accountability and collaboration across job roles, geographies, and functions. Efforts need to be coordinated and synchronized at both a systemic and individual level, with a focus on inquiry, humility, and commitment.

In this webinar, Christa will explore ways to build a culture where conscious inclusion is embedded in business systems and processes. We will investigate ways to configure opportunity, interaction, and communication to realize the potential of diversity. And we’ll also identify ways to foster a sense of belonging where everyone feels welcome to grow, connect, and contribute.

The pandemic has taken a disproportionate toll on women in the workplace.

According to the Women in the Workplace 2021 study by McKinsey and LeanIn.org, one in three women has considered leaving the workforce or downshifting their career over the last year.

Those numbers rise dramatically for women of color. And while stress, burnout, and exhaustion continue to affect women more than men, women continue to take consistent action to support their teams and promote well-being.

In honor of International Women’s Day, Corporate Education Group invites people of all genders to join them for an exploration of what it means to be a woman leader – or aspiring leader – in the world today.

  1. What can women do to build their resilience and unique skills and capabilities while supporting the people they lead?
  2. What can men do to recognize the work of women leaders and empower them to be successful in the workplace?

Join them for this important and timely conversation and help shape better outcomes for all of your employees.
