Storytelling enables nuclear, transport and other large infrastructure projects to communicate their challenges, progress, and experience. What does this look like in practice?

Everyone loves a great story and in our profession, we are fortunate to have so many to tell.

The challenge is often pitching that story to the audience. It’s not always a keen local society or a group of school students; sometimes it’s a hard-pressed developer or a client with competing demands. I want to share some of the ways that HS2 and its amazing supply chain has sought to communicate the nature, excitement, and challenges of our works.

Helen Wass will highlight examples of current best practice, ways to reach a wide audience and how to help celebrate the benefit that archaeological practice brings in so many ways.

Waterfall, agile, or both?

We know that each methodology comes with its own benefits and challenges and that a linear, waterfall approach doesn’t always work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.

But how do we combine the two approaches to fit our real-world projects?

In this webinar, you’ll see what a hybrid approach can do for your projects, along with when and how to implement them.

Keith will take you through three scenarios to demonstrate using a hybrid approach in the real world.

Topics include:

  • An overview of what a hybrid approach is
  • Selecting waterfall or agile roles, practices, and techniques
  • How a hybrid approach is used in real scenarios

Medical writing and project management are two sides of the coins because one can write and produce quality documents to the regulators successfully only with managing the project effectively.

The medical writer has to think because of the intellectual nature of the job, and one has to think through the concept, analyze, and interpret the data.

This is not possible without coordinating with the core team members viz. clinician, clinical operations’ project manager, biostatistician, data manager, clinical research associates, publisher, research scientist, accounts and legal departments, facility (clinical site) staff, and the management of the Sponsor. At the same time confidentiality of the work and the information is of utmost importance before it comes in the public domain as this might involve the individual subject’s confidential information also!

Here comes the importance of the project management in medical writing.

Through initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closing, the publication writing project can be successfully completed with the project management effectively by skilled dedicated project manager (PM). Project management in medical writing is critical and is led effectively through these building blocks which improves ways to work towards medical writing projects with skillsets while maintaining the business acumen.

Learning outcomes:

Project management successfully drives the medical writing projects through the hurdles of time stringency, lack of resources, or ‘billable’ hours through project management skills such as communication, risk management, leadership, negotiation, critical thinking, and problem solving.
