“Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” ~ Mike Tyson

But Tyson had a plan going into every fight.

“Sean says – I’ve burned a lot of time – and career currency – trying to create that perfect project plan, and I can tell you for a fact that those plans did not eat that first punch any better than plans created in much less time.”

  • Project planning truth #1:
    • You need a project plan ASAP. A project plan is usually the first explicit/tangible deliverable in the project management value chain and nothing sets a project down the right path like it. Note, though, I did not say that you need a PERFECT project plan.
  • Project planning truth #2:
    • There is no such thing as the perfect plan.

Projectize is a bit of a mouthful but it’s a simple concept at heart: a 4-step method for getting from concept to project blueprint in days (not weeks.)

  1. Unpack the work
  2. Create a checklist
  3. Size the work
  4. Plan the work

Presenter: Sean Hull (LinkedIn profile @shull), PMP, CSM has a 15+ year history of developing, planning and driving the delivery of business / technology evaluation, reengineering and implementation projects from cradle to done on a global scale.  Sean has an extensive track record of guiding process, systems and software transformations / implementations spans the transformation life cycle from opportunity assessment and business analysis at the strategic level to managing the implementations themselves.A native of Columbus, Ohio and holds a B.S. in International Relations from The Ohio State University – And yes, he’s a HUGE Buckeye fan.
