Requirements are the key aspects to successful projects and the foundational concept of where business analysts can bring value to an organization.

When done with rigor and discipline, requirements keep projects on scope, validate testing efforts and ensure alignment with overall organizational strategies while ensuring value continues to be delivered.

However, managing requirements well in our constantly changing and dynamic environments is the challenge every project manager, business analyst, product owner and subject matter expert today faces regardless if they are novice level and entering the analyst field or seasoned professionals managing complex environments.

In this session Jamie Champagne will walk through practical applications of requirements analysis & design and managing requirements in the ‘real world’ – where strict processes and templates may not always be followed (or even created), learn tips and tricks to help keep efforts on track and moving in a positive direction even when you’re not the leader or person in charge (or even get the title of Business Analyst of Requirements Manager) and while having some fun (didn’t know requirements were that exciting, did you…?) !

Topics to be covered during this session are planning for requirements elicitation, elicitation techniques, traceability, testing plans, validation, approvals, tracking and even reuse.

As well as there will be room for questions to bring up your own situations and challenges you face in your environments today.

Course Learning Objectives Include:

  • Understand the multiple facets of requirements
  • Learn techniques for eliciting and managing requirements
  • Gain tips and tricks to immediately apply to requirements in your own work

With the Course You Will Receive:

  • Access to the Live and Recorded Version of Webinar
  • Personalized Certificate of Attendance
  • Copy of Presentation Slides

Requirements are a key driver for any project and there is a direct relationship between the accuracy of requirements and the outcome of a project.

In many cases there is a direct link between scope and requirements, hence requirement definition impacts project scope.  Every project benefits by having a well-defined project scope that helps define boundaries for the project, the primary outcome/goal/deliverable to be achieved and success metrics (what does “done” look like”)

In this session  David Angelow (LinkedIn profile) will discuss how Design Sprint methods can be used to help project managers and teams at-large ensure alignment between current problem/challenge, scope of work and requirements for the project overall.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the design sprint process and major outcomes resulting from completing a successful sprint.
  • Understand risks associated with requirements definition and risk mitigation actions
  • Understand how to identify stakeholders to engage in design sprint process
  • Understand how design sprints can be used to generate and validate project requirements
  • Understand how to manage team dynamics during the design sprint process

Digital technologies, such as blockchain, deliver efficiencies and aim to move the programme and project management world into the 4th Industrial revolution. This webinar will explore the benefits and requirements for implementing blockchain.

Blockchain technology is progressing rapidly in a number of other industries, like banking, insurance etc. Many of the technology’s characteristics could also be used to support the management and delivery of programmes of work and therefore projects.

Blockchain drives operational efficiencies by removing intermediaries, minimising time and effort spent on admin, record keeping and transaction reconciliation.

When combined with other initiatives, such as storing of design / drawings on the cloud, smart contracts, collaborative working, standard project management structures, etc., it can support the efficient delivery of projects as well as programmes of work.

Another driver for implementing digital technologies is the Government’s ‘Construction Sector Deal’ policy (Jul 2018). This sets out the level of efficiencies to be delivered by the industry and specifies deploying these technologies as one of the strategies to accomplish this.

During the webinar Dimitris will look at a specific programme of works environment, consider the issues and limitations and the steps taken during its transformation. Then the benefits of blockchain will be presented and how it could be used to improve the delivery of the programme of works. Following this, the requirements of implementing blockchain will be considered.

Presenter:  Dr Dimitris Antoniadis (LinkedIn profile) PhD, FAPM, FCMI, FAPM  Director of Danton pPogam / Director of Programme -Project Management, PMO Services at Proc-Global has 30+ years in Programme & Project Management positions.  He held Senior Management posts in major utilities, infrastructure, construction organisations & major business transformation programmes.  As Head of PMO he has set up and run the departments within challenging partnering environments. Author of  ‘Demystifying Project Control’ Dimitris was awarded the PhD, from Loughborough University, UK, for his research on the subject of ‘Managing Complexity in Project Teams’.

  • Have you or your Agile teams had trouble refining requirements on an Agile project?
  • Are your teams struggling with user stories and tasks that are too large for them to handle well?

If so, you and your teams need more guidance to implement backlog / user story grooming.

Backlog grooming is a step-by-step process of taking high-level (“coarse-grained”) requirements and refining them to lower-level user stories and tasks (“fine-level”) that are ready to put into a sprint.

In RefineM’s Backlog/Story Grooming presentation, attendees will learn how to work the process to achieve fine-grained requirements that are ready just in time.

The key to success is leveraging tools and techniques as well as the expertise of your team to refine requirements iteratively.

Presenter: NK Shrivastava (LinkedIn profile) PMP, PMI-RMP, PMI-ACP, CSM, SPC, is CEO of RefineM LLC and an experienced and certified Project Management Consultant, Risk Management Professional, and Agile Coach with over 25 years of experience in project management. NK is an experienced instructor/trainer on project management and Agile topics and specializes in project management fundamentals, risk management, and project recovery.
