PVaR (Project Value at Risk) is a new indicator for connecting risks to two of the most important questions in project management: when will the project be completed and at what cost?

PVaR based on the widely accepted VaR (Value at Risk) financial indicator.

This interactive session, with questionnaires and polls, will introduce the amazing progress and mini revolutions currently taking place in risk management: the cognitive and big data revolutions.

The multitude of KRI (Key Risk Indicators) has made it difficult for project managers to communicate risk outputs in a concise, clear way that decision makers could easily understand and use.

The main focus of the session will be on introducing the PVaR (Project Value at Risk) indicator and to demonstrate how you can use it to improve your communication with stakeholders and decision makers.

Join Nicki Kons (LinkedIn profile) BSc., MBA, MA, PMI-RMP, PMI-PMP,as she presents a new way to connect risks to business outcomes.

Join Sandra MacGillivray (LinkedIn profile) and learn how to leverage the Project Definition Rating Index (PDRI) to dramatically improve scope definition in construction capital projects.

This webinar provides an introduction to PDRI – the Project Definition Rating Index, a methodology developed by the Construction Industry Institute (CII) to ensure appropriate scope definition in construction projects.

Sandra will share how application of this proven methodology is helping industrial, infrastructure and building projects around the world achieve:

  • Increased cost and schedule certainty
  • Increased team alignment
  • Better transparency on risks

Project teams can easily use PDRI to assess their progress on scope development and work collaboratively to identify gaps and risks early in front end planning – before detailed design and construction begins.

Self-Healing Systems

Live Webinar July 26th, 2016 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM EDT
Duration: 1 Hour Credits: 1 PDU Category C Free
Presented by : O’Reilly

We can think of computer systems as human bodies, comprised of cells of various types.

In computer systems, these “cells” can be hardware or software, and they can behave in similar ways to cells observed in a human body.

Software units can be made with the ability to self-heal. Self-healing can be applied to almost any type of architecture but provides best results when combined with microservices; in general, the smaller software units are, the easier it is for them to self-heal, recuperate from failures, multiply, or even be destroyed if needed.

Viktor Farcic explores the practices and tools required to set up fully autonomous self-healing systems capable of both reactive recuperation from failures and proactive prediction of steps that should be taken to prevent failures before they happen.

Presenter:  Viktor Farcic  (LinkedIn profile, O’Reilly bio) Sr. Consultant CloudBees; speaks at  conferences, and is the author of The DevOps 2.0 Toolkit: Automating the Continuous Deployment Pipeline with Containerized Microservices and Test-Driven Java Development.  Viktor is passionate about microservices, continuous integration, delivery, and deployment (CI/CD), and test-driven development. HE has coded using a plethora of languages including Pascal, Basic (before it got the Visual prefix), ASP (before it got the .Net suffix), C, C++, Perl, Python, ASP.Net, Visual Basic, C#, JavaScript, Java, Scala, and more. His current favorite is Go.

What is the significance of
“Communication Practices”
to the success of Project Management?

This is a great question to ask when considering why so many projects fail.

Could Communications be the silver bullet to project success after all?

Project Management Communications Tools – A guide to Communicating effectively! “ by 20-year subject matter expert Bill Dow uncovers a new approach to these questions.

Through use of a Communications Requirement Matrix, a Social Media to Lifecycle Process Mapping and a discussion about the “what, when and why” of what project information may be appropriate for social media, you will acquire a new way to approach your next project.

In addition to planning and being proactive with the structure of your next project you will discover these activities as they relate to both Waterfall and Agile projects.

You are sure to find something valuable in this webinar!

Presenter: Bill Dow (LinkedIn profile) PMP, ITIL with more than 23 years in Information Technology, Bill authored the bestseller “Project Management Communications Bible”, “The Tactical Guide for Building a PMO“ and his newest book Project Management Communications Tools – A guide to Communicating effectively!.  Bill has built and operated large Project Management Offices (PMOs), and has a strong passion for Project Management, Project Management Offices (PMOs), and Software Development Lifecycle Methodologies. There are varying degrees of uncertainty associated with everything we do.

Alarm clocks are generally more predictable than our drive to work while that drive is often more predictable than say software development.

Individually the uncertainty can be managed but the picture becomes a lot more complex when multiple tasks are occurring at the same time.

What does trying to manage multiple tasks do to your chance of success?

This presentation will look at how some simple simulations can assess the impact of uncertainty and produce far more realistic forecasts for the future. This reduces management effort, saves money and leads to happier clients.

Presenter:  John Owen (LinkedIn profile) COO of Barbecana Inc, J has over 30 years of experience with using, supporting, and developing project management software tools across multiple industries.  Before joining Barbecana John was Product Director for Scheduling and Risk tools at Deltek.  Barbecana specializes in producing software for schedule risk analysis with the aim of helping customers improve confidence in their schedules.
