  • When a user opens Facebook, they want to post a picture.
  • When they logs into their bank, they wants to see their balance.

Security is not front of mind, and if it gets in their way — users are  likely to look for a shortcut or simply walk away.

And yet, we consistently push security decisions to users, ranging from passwords to security warnings, usually resulting in an experience that’s neither usable nor secure.

In this webcast, Rachel and Guy will combine their UX and security expertise to offer an alternative, showing examples that aspire to solve the problem, and sharing best practices of how to provide a secure experience that doesn’t alienate users.

Presenters:

Guy Podjarny  (LinkedIn profile, @guypod Guypo) is founder of Snyk.io, building web security tools for developers& was previously CTO at Akamai & founder of Blaze.io. Guy’s research and writing focuses on web security and performance, often running large tests to reach data-driven conclusions. A frequent conference speaker, he writes at guypo.com and Medium, is the author of Responsive & Fast: Implementing High-Performance Responsive Design, and the creator of Mobitest.

Rachel Ilan Simpson (LinkedIn profile, @rilan)  is a UX designer on the Google Chrome team. As a freelance interaction designer for a variety of large clients and  design agencies. Rachel co-founded the first German version of the Maker Faire, called “Make Munich.” She also started Munich Design Jam, which brings together coders, designers, and business people to build cool products. In today’s always-connected world, users expect to have a mobile experience that is immediate, pervasive, and aware.

In this way, it is crucial to build apps that meet these expectations.  Specifically, business needs to build mobile apps that are always available, regardless of network connectivity and speed.

Users expect a great experience when using their mobile apps.

If an app doesn’t provide this, then users won’t use it — it’s that simple.

In the past, this has mostly meant a beautiful and intuitive interface, which is important but not the whole story.

In this webcast, you’ll learn how to build a mobile app that has a consistent user experience, both online and offline.

This includes:

  • Syncing the data
  • Storing the data
  • Securing the data
  • Cross platform data modeling

You’ll walk away with an understanding of the design patterns required to build an app that works online and offline — all this, using open source technologies.

Presenters:

Wayne Carter, (LinkedIn profile) Mobile Chief Architect, is responsible for leading vision, strategy and development for the company’s mobile solutions at Couchbase.  Before Couchbase, Wayne spent years with Oracle & Siebel where he drove innovation . How to Make Speed Feature #1 &
Take Your Digital Delivery To Ludicrous Speeds

As mobile consumption and responsive design become more integral to your digital strategy, plain old high-speed experience just isn’t enough — you need to work with your team to make speed your number 1 feature!

It’s clear that performance of your digital properties is important for business results.

There’s already a great deal of research on the topic, and techniques for internally selling speed within your company are well known.

But, until you make speed feature #1 and apply it to every part of your end user experience, you will never be able to reach the performance level your customers are increasingly coming to expect as standard — ludicrous speed.

Join acknowledged web performance expert Sergey Chernshev and Aaron Rudger in this informative session.

They will  reveal proven ways to:

  • Prioritize speed against other your other features (current, planned, and backlog)
  • Avoid common anti-features — features that slow user experience and harm business results
  • Make real features both useful and fast

Presenters:

Aaron Rudger (LinkedIn profile, @arudger) currently leads Product Marketing at Dynatrace, shaping and evangelizing the company’s digital performance management technology vision.  Aaron has held key marketing positions at Right90, BMC Software, Remedy Corporation and iPrint.com. Aaron is also a frequent speaker at industry events.

Sergey Chernyshev (LinkedIn profile, @sergeyche) is web performance enthusiast, open source hacker and web addict with 20+ years in the industry. Working at Dynatrace as Web Performance consultant, he helps large clients make sense of their performance needs. Sergey also organizes NY Web Performance Meetup Group, local community of web performance geeks in New York and helps kick-start local Web Perf groups around the globe.
