Activity Type: Education – Online or Digital Media  1 PDU – Free
Provider: The Corporate Education Group (REP 1011)

The best project managers know that managing the expectations, goals and objectives of key stakeholders is critical to project success.

If the stakeholders aren’t satisfied, even the most efficient and well-executed project won’t be deemed successful in the eyes of those that matter most.

The best way to ensure stakeholder needs are met is to establish them up front, along with clear and mutually agreed upon communication and project completion requirements.

By considering stakeholder perceptions while developing the project charter and project plan, you can avoid unnecessary readjustments during project execution.

Bonnie will review:

  • How to initiate projects that help your organization achieve its goals
  • How to develop a project charter and a project management plan
  • How to identify and analyze project stakeholders and determine their information needs and communication requirements
  • How to manage stakeholder expectations and ensure their satisfaction

About the Presenter: Bonnie Cooper (LinkedIn profile), PMP®, Instructor and Consultant for Corporate Education Group, is a 20+ year information technology professional. In her current role as the Program Director for the Massachusetts Medical Society’s (MMS) Corporate IT Program Office, Bonnie is responsible for coordinating the efforts of project teams, overseeing the implementation of project standards, managing the corporate IT strategic plan, and leading the program to re-engineer the membership platform for MMS.

Delivering higher-value projects in increasingly shorter timeframes sustains competitiveness.

Challenges exist at every turn; risk must be understood and mitigated, and problems recognized and solved quickly.

Adaptive reasoning and problem-solving skills have become increasingly important in project management, where decisions based on sometimes sparse, voluminous, or contradictory data must be dealt with, verified and conveyed to a diversity of team members – often under stressful, time-sensitive circumstances.

In such situations, project managers’ ability to update their mental models precisely, draw valid conclusions, and effectively deploy response through team members is critical.

This presentation discusses how advancements in adaptive reasoning and problem-solving skills resulting from the development of structured approaches to innovation are changing perceptions of project deliverables (time, quality, cost, risk management, et al).

Presenter: Dana W. Clarke, Sr. (LinkedIn profile) President/CEO of Applied Innovation Alliance LLC, specializes on the advancement and practical application of Structured Innovation and TRIZ (The Theory of Inventive Problem Solving).  Author of TRIZ: Through the Eyes of an American TRIZ Specialist & 40 Principles: TRIZ Keys to Innovation [Extended Edition]  His expertise encompasses the practical applications, consulting, facilitation and training of methodologies and business practices. As an expert in Strategic Planning, Competitive Intelligence, Business Process Innovation, Quality Function Deployment, and TRIZ. Dana became the first American to become internationally recognized as a Level 4 TRIZ Specialist by the International Association of TRIZ.

Microaggressions are “brief and commonplace verbal, behavioral, and environmental indignities, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative slights and insults that potentially have harmful or unpleasant psychological impact on the target person or group.”

Microaggressions are like paper cuts to the human spirit—they are abrupt and subtle, but cause lingering pain. When left unchecked in the workplace, they threaten relationships and performance.

Dealing effectively with microaggressions at work requires a willingness to: shift our perspective, sit with uncomfortable feelings, de-escalate our own emotions, and be curious about others’ experiences.

In this interactive webinar Nyah will examine various types of microaggression and how they show up in the workplace. We’ll explore the importance of separating intention from impact in order to drive productive dialogue and connection.

Using real-life scenarios, Nyah will practice responding in ways that are productive and authentic, creating a foundation for a work culture of engagement and inclusion.

Presenter: Nyah Lynn Edwards (LinkedIn profile), serves as an equity and inclusion professional and certified professional coach with an emphasis in leadership development. Her mission is to grow servant and transformative leaders to meet the challenges and opportunities of today. She brings 20+ years of experience in human development capital. Nyah has engaged in a vast number of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) projects and facilitated DE&I for thousands of leaders, using facts, storytelling, experiential learning, and other theories to ensure transference of learning to the workplace. Nyah is a recipient of President Barack Obama’s 2017 President’s Lifetime Achievement Award
