Compliance is an essential part of HR, but it is always the bare minimum and should be assessed and analyzed as part of an overall culture strategy. Issuing a policy that says “We don’t discriminate” is not the same as a comprehensive inclusion and diversity program.

Following the rules and filing reports are just part of creating a work environment where compliance happens on the way to larger goals for learning, performance, and wellness.

But since HR never has to make the business case for compliance, it can be a persuasive approach to larger culture initiatives.

In this webinar, Mike Bollinger (LinkedIn profile) VP, Strategic Initiatives, Cornerstone OnDemand; surveys compliance issues, who they affect, and why it’s essential to see compliance as a culture issue.

Learn:

  • What compliance issues create risk for the organization and for employees
  • Why people are the most important aspect of all compliance issues
  • When compliance problems are symptoms instead of causes
  • How to approach different compliance issues using training, tech, coaching, and data

As the UK began to address the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the resulting lockdown has had a huge impact on the way we work. The last months have seemed like a lifetime and we’ve had to change at a pace and scale we would not have previously anticipated or even considered workable.

Our professional lives have had to be rapidly reassessed: some of us have been furloughed, others are finding that remote and flexible working is the norm rather than an outlier; only 30% of UK employees ever worked from home during 2019, according to the Office of National Statistics (ONS).

Our personal lives and caring responsibilities have become more complex in a short space of time.  As we work from home whether in a corner of the living room, a spare bedroom or a dedicated home office with or without interruptions from family or pets we wonder about our previous ideas over work-life balance.

Our emerging ‘new normal’ is different and we don’t yet understand what a next ‘new normal’ might look like: we know what we are going through is emergent change while we are still improving our understanding of COVID-19 epidemiology and its total impact.

A team of experienced project managers who will be familiar to many of you: Sarah Coleman, Vicki Griffiths, Ian Cribbes and Tim Lyons began to gather and collate stories, research, reflections and insight drawn from the P3M community under the heading Lessons from Lockdown.

In this webinar Ian Cribbes will provide a summary of their findings and pose the question “where do we go from here?”

Presenter: Ian Cribbes (LinkedIn profile) FAPM has worked with a wide variety of organisations within the UK and internationally, leading projects with values in excess of £35 million pounds.  Ian is a co-opted member of the People SIG committee and an active member of the Stakeholder Engagement Focus Group.  Ian now runs his own company assisting organisations with programme and project management issues and advising on stakeholder engagement processes.

“Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” ~ Mike Tyson

But Tyson had a plan going into every fight.

“Sean says – I’ve burned a lot of time – and career currency – trying to create that perfect project plan, and I can tell you for a fact that those plans did not eat that first punch any better than plans created in much less time.”

  • Project planning truth #1:
    • You need a project plan ASAP. A project plan is usually the first explicit/tangible deliverable in the project management value chain and nothing sets a project down the right path like it. Note, though, I did not say that you need a PERFECT project plan.
  • Project planning truth #2:
    • There is no such thing as the perfect plan.

Projectize is a bit of a mouthful but it’s a simple concept at heart: a 4-step method for getting from concept to project blueprint in days (not weeks.)

  1. Unpack the work
  2. Create a checklist
  3. Size the work
  4. Plan the work

Presenter: Sean Hull (LinkedIn profile @shull), PMP, CSM has a 15+ year history of developing, planning and driving the delivery of business / technology evaluation, reengineering and implementation projects from cradle to done on a global scale.  Sean has an extensive track record of guiding process, systems and software transformations / implementations spans the transformation life cycle from opportunity assessment and business analysis at the strategic level to managing the implementations themselves.A native of Columbus, Ohio and holds a B.S. in International Relations from The Ohio State University – And yes, he’s a HUGE Buckeye fan.
