Live Webinar May 2nd, 2014 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm EDT
Duration: 1 hour webinar Credits: 1 PDU Category A – $15 USD PDU
Presented by: Solutions Cube Group (REP 2451)

This webinar is second in a 4 part series series of Project Scheduling by Solutions Cube.  Although this module is a part of the series – each module in the series can be taken individually.

Most scheduling software today allows project teams to input raw data, and then automatically calculates the critical path. However, understanding the critical path in MS project can be a relatively daunting task.

Understanding the critical path benefits the project manager by allowing them to focus on priority activities and to identify slips earlier. Understanding the critical path facilitates what-if analysis and decision making.

Attend this 1 hour presentation to learn why knowing and understanding the critical path is one of the first steps in efficiently and effectively managing a project and how identifying your project’s critical path requires discipline and maturity.

In this 1 hour in-depth webinar participants will:

  • Understand effects of path convergence and joint probabilities
  • Understand how knowing the critical path enables what-if analysis
  • Learn how to determine the critical path manually and using MSProject
  • Discover tips and due diligence checklists for developing project schedules

What constitutes stellar performance and best practice? You can’t really say what’s good or best … unless you measure it.

High-performing athletes rely on measurement to understand and improve so that they can compete effectively and win. Can knowledge workers such as software engineers use measurement in a similar approach? Absolutely. But the measures need to be practical, relevant, trustworthy, and actionable. They need to be used by the individual to benefit the individual.

Join Mark and Bill to:

  • See the emerging empirical results of over 100 software project teams that have collected accurate performance data
  • Learn about the techniques that were developed and used to validate the accuracy of the collected data
  • Learn how four basic measures can provide close-looped feedback to help software engineers understand and improve their performance

You don’t need to measure everything.

It only takes a few basic and easy-to-collect measures to help you and your team manage schedule commitments and software quality. Tune in during this webinar to find out what those key measures are, how you can collect them, and how you and your software development team can use them effectively.

During this webinar, Mark and Bill will share the performance results of over 100 software teams that have carefully tracked their schedule performance and the quality of their work. They will show you how high-integrity empirical results such as these can be used at the individual, project, and industry levels to characterize performance in meaningful and insightful ways.

Duration:  1 Hour  Credits: 1 PDU/CDU  Cat B – Free PDU/CDU
Presented by: IIBA    Pharma/Biotech SIG

This webinar will focus on the three main areas that comprise pharmaceutical R&D:

  1. The Beginning of Basic Discovery: Identifying a Disease process (What’s wrong?)
  2. Preclinical Development and Phase I trials: What the drug does to the body? What does the body do to the drug? (Toxicology and Safety)
  3. Clinical Development: Clinical trials to determine drug safety in humans. (Effectiveness/Safety Regulations)

Part one covers the various aspects of basic research. This sets the stage for discussing the purpose of preclinical development and describing what that entails.

The goal is to demystify each step in the process for the non-scientist.

Lastly, there are certain regulations and guidelines that govern human clinical trials to ensure drug safety in larger populations, clinical development.

For those who would like to learn more about the Pharma/Biotech R&D domain, this introduction will provide an overview of the high level processes from the lab to the clinic.

Presenter: Aubrey Watkins III, Ph.D. (LinkedIn profile), is Associate Director, Global Procurement, at Merck Sharp & Dohme, and is responsible for establishing contracts and managing over $100M of business with suppliers on a global basis in support of pre-clinical research and manufacturing of vaccines and biologics for Phase I trials.
